Over the years, I have changed not only my photography styles but also the gear that I choose to carry. I was asked on a couple of my YouTube videos what gear I use and what camera bag I carry it all in. To make this easier and not clog up my video descriptions, I have compiled a list of all the gear here. I am currently working on some affiliate links so you can purchase these items directly from my site and that purchase helps me receive a small commission. I truly appreciate all your support for my work!
Photography Camera’s
OM Systems OM1
I own two of these and they are my main camera's that I love using. Image quality, features and less weight were a bonus when I switched systems.
Olympus OMD EM1 MKIII
This is my backup camera or an extra video camera.
Video Kit
OM System OM5 Camera
I use this camera when I don’t have my big kit with me or for video recording. It is a great camera and I love it.
Olympus Digital 12mm, f/2.0 ED MSC Lens
I use this on my OM5 for vlogging
GoPro HERO 9 Black
This is a great little camera for video recording in the rain or on my kayak. I really like using it and its light weight.
DJI Pocket 2
A great little camera that has a built in gimbal for steady shots and it fits in my pocket, small bag or just about anywhere.
Insta360 X3 Camera
This camera gives me a 360 degree view of what is around me. It is a fun option for some video to add b-roll to my vlogs.
Lenses
Olympus M.Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro
This lens is always in my camera bag and one of my “go to” lenses I use all the time. The image clarity is superb and the focus distance allows me to use this for macro in a pinch.
Olympus M.Zuiko 40-150mm f/2.8 Pro
Another one of my “go to” lenses I use all the time and it stays in my bag. The image clarity is superb and the focus distance allows me to use this for macro or closeup if I need. The focal range is also good for birds and some wildlife.
Olympus M.Zuiko 100-400mm f/5.0-6.3 ED IS
This lens has amazing image clarity and it also works great for getting in close when you physically cannot.
Olympus M.Zuiko 300mm f/4.0 PRO
This is an incredible lens that stays on my camera most of the time. I use this for not only wildlife but I have used it for macro and close-up images as well. The sharpness and details production are amazing. This is hands down my all-time favorite lens.
Lumix G Leica 9-18mm F/2.8
A new addition to my kit for wide angle shooting. It is a great lens, clarity is amazing and it allows me to use threaded filters.
Olympus M.Zuiko ED 60mm f/2.8 Macro
My favorite macro lens. The images from this lens are amazing and very clear. I also have various other Olympus lenses that I use depending on what I am going to shoot that day or how light I need to pack.
OM System M. Zuiko ED 90mm f/3.5 Macro PRO
This new lens gives me the ability to get in really close in a 2:1 range from my subject for those really close images of insects and other little things.
Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 1.4x and 2X Teleconverter MC-14 and MC-20
These are for my M. Zuiko 40-150mm f/2.8, M.Zuiko 100-400mm f/5.0-6.3, M.Zuiko 300mm f/4.0 PRO and M. Zuiko 90mm Macro f/3.5 PRO lenses and they give me that extra reach I might need for closeup or those wildlife shots and videos.
Camera Bags
Shimoda Explore V2 25L and 30L Camera Bags
I have been using Shimoda camera bags since they first came out with the Explore series a few years ago. I absolutely love these bags and they are the most comfortable bags I have ever used. If I am going on a long hike or out in the woods for the day, these bags carry it all. I own all four series of bags, the Explore, the Action X, Explore V2 and the new Women's Action X V2 in the sizes I need for my gear and location.
Shimoda Actions X30L V2 Women's Bag
This is the new backpack that Shimoda makes specifically for women.
Tenba Shootout 16L DSLR Camera Bag
I have had this bag for a long time now and its size and weight for my gear fits perfectly. I use this bag when I don’t need a larger one for short trips, taking shots in a garden, at the zoo or on the streets doing urban photography. It provides me with all the space I need for a small camera kit.
Tripods
Benro FGP18C Go Plus 4-section Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod w/Benro B1 Double Action Ballhead
This is a nice tripod that I carry on long hikes where I don’t want to carry my large tripod.
Vanguard VE03T+234CT 4-Section Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod w/ VEO BH-160S Dual Axis Ball Head
This is a great travel tripod that is small and light but is able to handle my OM-1 and 300mm f/4 lens with no problems at all.
Koolehaoda Portable Carbon Fiber Mini Tripod
I use this one for things that are really close to the ground or in a tight space for macro and closeup work.
